NOVEMBER 2008
Hotel Valencia, San Antonio Magazine, and Julian Gold
have come together to introduce San Antonio’s newest and most exciting
charity foundation. The Marrow Match™ is the passion of local San Antonio
athlete, actor, and model Jason Cox. It’s fitting that fashion and
passion should collide at one of San Antonio’s most popular monthly
events Fashiontini Thursdays at The Hotel Valencia. KSAT 12’s own Ursula
Pari is set to emcee the event, and Julian Gold’s premier fashions
will hit the V bar runway at 7pm. One dollar from every drink sold
that night will benefit the Marrow Match™ Foundation. The foundation
also plans to unveil their team of runners registered for the upcoming
Inaugural Rock and Roll Marathon, we hope to have 70 runners to represent
the 70% of those waiting for a bone marrow transplant, but haven’t
found a suitable donor match with in their family. So join us
for what will be a hip, fun and stylish event.
KSAT 12 News Nightbeat
Fashion mixing with a message for marathoners and bone marrow
donors. Beautiful models are strutting their stuff at the Fashiontini
event at Hotel Valencia. This month I helped round up support for one of the model’s pet projects. It is called Marrow Match™ , the project of Jason Cox, whose life was saved by a bone marrow transplant. ” There is currently 70% of the people on the list are waiting for a match and we’re trying to recruit donors. We need money, marrow, and your time, so that is what we’re asking for.” The MarrowMatch is rounding up folks signed up to run in next Sunday’s
marathon. They want 70 runners and if you want more information go
to KSAT. com and click on the hot button. 00:22:44

How do people go about getting on the Bone Marrow Registry? People
will be able to do it depending on the Rock ‘N Roll Marathon. You guys will be out there swabbing people, right, to find out if they can be a bone marrow match? Exactly. Saturn has partnered with us with the Bone Marrow Foundation. Anywhere you see Saturn, you’ll see the MarrowMatch. You can sign up at one of our booths there. It is a very simple process to be on the list. So you can go to the MarrowMatch or contact the program directly. All we want to do is feed into them and add more people to the registry. That is 70% that have a chance at life. I know have you a team. That’s right. 70. And if people join your team they’ll get one of these shirts? Thanks to Saturn. You can go to Jason at the MarrowMatch. org or we have an event on November 14th from 4 to 8 at the VFW. That is a big rally if you don’t want to run or afraid you can’t make the 13 miles. I know. You can also volunteer and help folks get the word out. We’re
looking for your money, marrow, or time. Money, marrow, or time. I
like that. We need lots of people to come out and help us next Thursday.
It is unacceptable that a person in need of
a bone marrow transplant will die because they cannot find their
match." Jason Cox,
Founder & President, Marrow Match™
